It delivers the full intensity, and humour, of Woody Guthrie’s chronicles of American social history. This exceptional story-teller, accompanied here by simple guitar chords, sings his songs of truculence and tragedy, and tells his tales - funny episodes recounted with irresistible wit. In between we hear introductions by Guthrie’s second wife, Marjorie Mazia. Most of the tracks, such as ‘Talking Dust Bowl Blues’, ‘Pastures Of Plenty’ and ‘Tom Joad’, are landmarks in the history of American popular music. Rare and precious.
